Thenor,
My name is Jeff Schultz. I am the Director of Research and Development for VEESSA. If you need any help with anything developmentally, drop me a line at jeff@andysnet.net. It is good to see others getting involved with the crisis the world is facing and I would be more than willing to proffer any information or ideas if need be. Thanks and may karma bless your expedition.

How do you fellers plan on setting up NP status? 501? You can also file as Coop status. I would need to know more about business plan to be able to really help. I noted you're putting or have a charter together. You might check out starting a coop, it is a little more flexible and could possibly be the route you want to take. If you have questions with solar, hydro let me know. I realize there is not much potential for solar, as I was in Bellingham in "86 touring the University there and sun light seemed limited in intensity. If there is enough flow from your water source you may be able to construct a penstock to develop head pressure. Hydro also may be utilized for a saw mill if you have enough flow. Are you planning year round residence? You posed a question about moss cover. If you are looking for GREEN cover, coat structure with "water" exposure base concrete mix and scratch surface for moss to root on subtrate. I'll get back to you when I have a little more time on my hands. Later, Jeff

I have been debating the uses of both non-profit 501c and COOP
the reason I have leaned toward a 501c is that we are constantly doing research on various products which benefits more then just the people doing the research. I also want people to be able to give tax deductible donations of money and technologies.
IDEAS...

The "products" that you are working on, sellable? Have you guys looked into insurance plans yet? If you are going to have visitors you going to need a comprehensive plan to cover yourself and the grounds. As far as donations are concerned; a mission plan with a public concession would help generate interest and per chance "donations".
Fund raising right now in the U.S. is scary hard. Not much out there, you may be able to write grant applications to the Washington State Tourism Board or Department of Economic Development. There are states that will give grants to entrepreneurs. They will want a feasability study done, albeit, it will cost you money for the study unless they write you a grant check for the study! You could also check with the U. in Bellingham as they are a Natural Resources centered U. Most of the big money out there is only given up if you have your game in play and need more developmental money to see project through to its fruition. I'll go through my grants and resources list to see if I can come with anything and get back to you. May enlightenment bless your weekend.
