Heating and cooling really wouldn't be a problem due to the house being below the frost line. Nice thought though. Hydro could be used to generate electricity for the houses. Each home could have a waterwheel tied in to a central pond and a underground piping system could re feed the pond so it could become and man made underwater spring.

Keep posting the good info, what you are saying is being read and taken under consideration as possible building materials and techniques.

We also wish to show other people how they can use these technologies, and how we have implemented them successfully. Part of one of the concepts we are currently toying with involves running a bed and breakfast as a sort of Sustainability Retreat. This may help offset the costs of development, and will also meet our goals of serving as an example.

As a result, we are very interested in not just how we can do things cheaply and sustainably, but also how we can ensure that it stands up to people's aesthetic taste as well.
