So what are the opinions and thoughts on chest fridges? Meaning chest freezers that are traditionally better insulated than most refrigerators and their doors are on the top so when open the temperature differential is better maintained since air currents and diffusion of heat across them are the main sources of loss where with an upright refrigerator all the cold air tends to fall out the bottom as the warm air from the room rushes in the top. Grocery stores seem to have known this and employed this concept for aisle refrigeration without doors for a long while now. Someone over on the far side of the planet from myself has created a nice wiring design for a temperature controller to convert a chest freezer to refrigerator with the notion of it being linked into an inverter for off the grid power sources.
