Education: During his studies of  botany sustainability and safe tree care  while in college, Sandor completed a Permaculture Design Certificate Course.  He continued along that line of thinking gathering the skills needed to understand how to start a sustainability research facility.  This practical knowledge was applied during to various project over  breaks in the educational year, until he  graduated with a BA in Sustainable Agriculture  from Hampshire College, in the spring of 2006.

Experience: Carpentry has been apart of Sandor's upbringing for all of his life, and he has participated in most aspects of the  construction and remodeling of at least 15 houses. Having grown up always having some sort of vegetable garden, Sandor has spent most of his life gardening. During College he spent  4 years doing farmhand and landscaping work on various farms and gardens.  Sandor has worked in the tree care and land scaping industry for the past 2 years to pay the bills while he devots all his free time to making a more sustainable future

Born in Homer, Alaska,  I  grew up involved in a subsistence lifestyle. My family grew lots of garden goods all summer.  We froze wild salmon, berries and vegetables we grew. I have moved many times, all over the USA, as my mother went to Medical School.    I moved back to Alaska for high school. In Alaska, I  helped my stepfather build our house, from start to finish.  Even though carpentry was a large part of my upbringing it was not until I helped erect every part of my home that I discovered that I enjoy hard labor.

I decided to go to school back east, to be near my father, at Hampshire college, where I studied sustainable farming permaculture and tree care. I graduated with a degree in Sustainable Agriculture in the spring of 2006. While in school I helped my father work on various houses.  After I finished school, I decided to live my dream of driving a bus across the USA. so we went on the Mark 1 adventures ending in California.

I have worked in the Tree Care industry ever since I got to the west coast.   I climb large trees and get paid for it. When done correctly it is a very safe profession,  but things can go from great to disaster in milliseconds if you are not paying attention. I enjoy the work, but I find most of the work I do is because of improper planing.

I created this website in the fall of 2005 with the help of my brother, Trevor, after realizing  that I needed to share the idea of a sustainable future with the world or It would not happen. We must be the change we wish to see.

My real motivation is that when I decide to have children, I do not want them to have to grow up in the world our society is creating. There is a better way.  Food should be produced close to the home, as should power. What would happen if all the infrastructure that we depend on stopped working? Look at what happened when a minor event like Katrina hit New Orleans. Our government was completely unprepared. What if trading long distances became difficult? With oil Prices rising, and most shipping using oil as fuel... we are rapidly approaching that dark future.

One of my closest friends is going to be a father, and I feel I owe it to his child and to myself to do my best to create a world that the next generation can be proud to grow up in. Subsequently I spend all my free time, money and energy into developing this paradigm. We need to join together and bring about a sustainable future where a "subdivision" is a self sufficient community.
